The annual Wanganui Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament was played at the Wanganui Golf Club, Belmont Links Course on October 12th. There were 21 Teams of four completing in an Ambrose format for a prize table totaling over $6,500.
New CEO Philip Shackleton and President Bronwyn Paul in front of this years prize table.
Support was excellent with Ford coming on board as principal sponsor followed by Harvey Norman who put up first prize.

The day dawned marginal weather wise with strong Westerly’s forecast with some showers. Fortunately things cleared in the morning and the Tournament was not affected by the weather . Playing in the stiff Westerly was a challenge and towards the end of the afternoons play a heavy squall made for some tough golf.
Everyone completed their round and reported they had had a great days entertainment made even more special by some trick golf displayed on hole 11. The “No Bull” Prize as it will now be called was won by Mark Simmonds after pulling his 3 wood left out over the fence, under the trees and smack into a cow !, The sound being heard around most of the course.
First prize of 4 flat screen televisions supplied by Harvey Norman was won by none other, than a Team calling themselves the Professionals.
Congratulations to Simon Pearce, Thomas Clark, Jamie Doble and Wayne Graham who finished with Net 57.3
Another clinical display on the 11th.
Economic Development Consultants Ltd donated a large trophy for the Tournament this year which will support the Chambers commitment to making this one of the best of the year.
